Exploring the World’s Largest Log Home
A few weeks ago, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the world’s largest log home while documenting potential film locations for Northern BC Tourism. This stunning architectural masterpiece, located on the serene Moberly Lake, is a testament to ingenuity and craftsmanship. Let’s dive into the fascinating story behind this extraordinary home and our experience capturing its essence.
A Vision Turned Reality
Originally designed to be a lakeside lodge with a restaurant on the main floor and a pub in the basement, the construction of this log home began in October 1998 and took nearly three years to complete. During the building process, local residents expressed concerns about the environmental impact, particularly regarding the septic system. After thorough testing, the owner decided to redesign the lodge as a private residence to protect the beautiful surrounding area.
A Glimpse Inside the Log Home
This amazing house boasts an impressive array of features:
- 16 Bathrooms and 10 Bedrooms: With ample space, the home comfortably accommodates large gatherings, making it perfect for hosting events.
- Two Kitchens: These well-equipped kitchens are ideal for preparing meals for family and guests.
- Wine Cellar: A sophisticated wine cellar adds a touch of luxury, perfect for wine enthusiasts.
- Home Theater: A state-of-the-art home theater provides an immersive entertainment experience.
- Workout Room: Complete with a pool and hot tub, this area offers relaxation and fitness opportunities.
- Great Room: The ceiling in the great room soars to 52 feet, and remarkably, not a single nail or screw was used in the main log support, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
A Hub for Celebrations
Over the years, this magnificent property has hosted 44 weddings, providing a picturesque backdrop for couples to celebrate their special day. For a period, the basement, originally intended to be a pub, hosted live music nights, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for guests and locals alike.

Preserving the Beauty
We remind the public to kindly respect the property when in the area. As amazing as it is, it is still a home where people live today. The owner’s decision to prioritize environmental preservation reflects the community’s values and commitment to protecting the natural beauty of Moberly Lake.

Do you rent rooms
Sorry Gale, we are not the owners of this beautiful home. We were only on the grounds to photograph the building.
The company I worked with had the contract to install the sprinkler system in the home. Fire pump also. It was probably the most interesting job I did in my career.
