Fraction Energy Services • Fire Suppression Services Explainer

Fraction Energy Services aimed to create a compelling video introducing their new fire suppression service for wildfire preparedness. The project highlighted community concerns and the importance of trust, urgency, and emotional connections.

The Compass

Some services are hard to explain because the stakes are so high.

That was the challenge with this project for Fraction Energy Services. Fraction is publicly known for water transfer work across Western Canada, along with a strong emphasis on innovation, Indigenous partnerships, and community relationships. This video introduced a new fire suppression service designed to help remote communities strengthen wildfire preparedness before the next emergency hits.

The client was making a video like this for the first time, and they wanted it to do more than explain equipment. It needed to carry urgency, emotion, and trust. It had to show how the system works, but just as importantly, it had to show why it matters when a community is trying to protect homes, infrastructure, and peace of mind.

The Trailhead

Fraction Energy Services is best known for water transfer solutions across Western Canada. The company’s public messaging also highlights innovation, Indigenous inclusion, and long-term partnerships with the communities where it operates.

This project centred on a new service aimed at wildfire preparedness. The film focused on Fraction’s mobile fire suppression system and its work with Doig River First Nation. Chief Trevor Makadahay described repeated close calls with wildfire, including one fire that came within about 500 metres of the band office. He also explained that concerns from elders around fire protection helped push the system forward, and that past evacuations caused anxiety and triggered trauma in the community.

That gave the film a clear purpose. It had to explain the system, but it also had to make the need feel real.

What the Client Needed

Fraction needed a video that could introduce a new service clearly and credibly.

The challenge was not just technical. This was the client’s first video of this kind, and they wanted to be sure it reflected the urgency of wildfire risk, the emotional reality communities face, and the quality of the Fraction brand and service.

The story also had to carry both function and meaning. On one side, the system includes river-fed pumping, large water storage, long hose runs, and broad sprinkler coverage. On the other side, the audience needed to understand something more human: this was about giving communities a real chance to protect homes, community buildings, and the future they are trying to hold onto. Chief Trevor spoke directly about wanting the community to feel safe and protect structures such as homes, the band office, training facilities, and the church.

Success meant creating a film that could explain the system, build trust in the service, and move people to act before the next fire threat arrives.

The Results

The clearest proof from this project came right away from the client.

Their response was simple and strong: “Brilliant! Thank you!” and “Thanks so much for the video. Looks fantastic!!!”

That matters, especially on a first video project where the client was understandably nervous about getting the tone right. The final piece gave them something they could stand behind with confidence.

The video also became part of how Fraction introduced the service publicly. In its LinkedIn post, the company used the film to explain the system, show its work with Doig River First Nation, and invite other communities to connect about wildfire preparedness.

There is also broader quality proof in the relationship itself. Fraction’s website includes praise from Doig River First Nation leadership, describing a meaningful and respectful relationship and saying the company supports the community and its cultural values.

In practical terms, the result was clarity. Fraction now has a stronger way to show communities what the system is, how it works, and why acting early matters.
